Twitter Bolstering Security

Twitter APIThe micro-blogging site has been hit again and again by malware, the first was from a bored teen who wrote code that quickly spread all over the place, the newest was more sinister with exploit laden PDF files and exploits galore sent to click-hungry users who clicked on just about anything they can click on. Finally, some word of hope from the site’s management, they will start to roll out secure and verified accounts that might be their answer to their growing rank in the hacker hit lists of the world. This would take the place of their crazy attitude of suspending accounts they suspect are from impersonators or are infected by malware, taking control of everything the account contains as if they owned it all the time. Lawsuit after lawsuit has landed them in hot water and made them one of the biggest malware targets this day and age of the social net.
As always, startups get an idea to do something never-done before, develop it and with some cash get down and launches their software or system on the net without proper security considerations beyond their server’s firewall or anti-virus system. They wait for their clientele to grow then react to security threats when it comes and just about when they risk getting shut down by malware that has long been preying upon them. Just hope the system they implement to secure their site is better than the ones they already have so the thousands of people inconvenienced by their lack of foresight are spared a few hours/days of callous causing twittering on their teeny-tiny keypads!
