Vlog (video blog)
A vlog is a term coined from two words video and blog. As its name suggests, it is a blog that contains mostly video content, which more often than not are distributed through RSS feeds which is called a vodcast or vidcast. If there is such a thing as a blogosphere, then the small area of it that focuses much on vlogs is often referred to as the vlogosphere.
The usual steps in making a vlog are the following:
Make a video (of course the content can be entirely up to you) and save it in your computer as a file. The most common software used for this is the Windows Movie Maker for Windows and QuickTime or iMovie for Apple systems.
Using software such as Movie Maker, iMovie, Avid Free DV and Final Cut Pro, compress the video so that it wont take much space.
You can now set up your blog, that is if you dont have one yet. There are many free blog hosts available nowadays so you can have your pick.
Next, publish your actual video online. Like blogs, there are many free hosting sites available. The Internet Archive, BlipTV, OurMedia, and YouTube are some I can name.
Create your blog entry. Make a screen capture from your video to display in your blog so that users can click on the image to be directed to the video itself. Add the image and link to your video.
Dont forget to get an RSS feed with enclosures and publish your blog at Feedburner or a similar site. This will help getting your video across many users of the Internet.
